After defeating Teemo the Hutt and leaving Tattooine behind them, the crew of the Krayt Fang head to the quiet Expansion Region system of Ploo. The former Rebel Sasha decided to part company with the rest of the group and try and reconnect with the remnants of her Rebel Cell. Lowhhrick the Wookiee asked to be dropped off near his home planet of Kashyyyk so that he might try and learn the fate of the rest of his clan.
The pilot Pash managed to pick up another passenger at a smuggler’s port: A Xexto mercenary known only as “The Craw”. While somewhat unstable The Craw seems to be a capable companion. With his new crewmate, Pash set his Hyperdrive for the Ploo System.
Seconds after dropping out of Hyperspace the cabin of the Krayt Fang was filled with the sound of alarms and proximity alert warnings. A G-9 Rigger light freighter has dropped out of hyperspace simultaneously and was heading for a direct collision. Only lightning quick reflexes and superior piloting skills from the pilots of both starships prevented a fatal crash. Despite the best efforts of the two pilots, the two ships exchanged paint and decided to land on the nearby planet of Ploo II and compare the damage to their ships.
The damage to both ships appeared to be trivial and the two crews diembarked to explore the city. A relatively quiet place, Ploo II’s major cities are no less filled with citizens from all over the Galaxy. Most native Glymphids and Quermians, but also humans, twi’leks, a few aqualish, and various other species. The two crews spend some time browsing the busy market stalls looking for supplies.
Rounding a corner, Pash is suddenly run into by a frantic looking human male. Grasping at Pash’s flight jacket, the man pleads with the crew. “Please you have to help me, they’re trying to take me!” Behind the panicing human, a gang of thugs armed with blasters and knives approaches. “Hand him over, this does not concern you.” Pash, the Craw, Redd the bounty hunter and Brada the pilot are somewhat reluctantly drawn into a firefight on the streets of Ploo.
The heavily armed crew make short work of the gang of thugs, quickly killing six of them, and sending the rest of them running off through the cluttered alleys of the street market. Examining the corpses reveals they are all sporting an identical tattoo, depicting a featureless tower above a broken weapon of some kind.
The rescued man was very grateful for the crews help, and recommended that they get off the streets before the rest of the thugs returned with reenforcements. Introducing himself as Omal, the man took the crew to his study located in a nearby building. He explains that he is a scholar, specifically a historian who studies the Sith. Those thugs who were trying to capture him in the street were Sith Cultists from a group called the Believers, who follow the Sith ways. The Believers want Omal for the knowledge he possesses concerning the location of an ancient Sith temple on the planet of Ploo II.
Omal explains that his professor and mentor, a Quermian named Murk Lundi, was the Galaxies foremost expert on the Sith. His expertise gained him respect, and criticism in equal measures, and he was accused of collaborating with underground Sith cults, including the Believers, to provide them with information and artifacts of the Sith. Around 40 years ago, Lundi learned of the existance of a Sith Holocron on the planet Kodai. The planet Kodai was covered in water, but ever 10 years the water receeds and the surface of the planet is accessible for relic hunters. Lundi found the holocron deep in a chasm, but another student of his named Norval, tried to steal the holocron for himself. Omal had followed the pair to Kodai, and manged to prevent Norval from obtaining the holocron, casting it back into the abyss to be lost to the waters.
Omal returned to the scholarly life, eventually becoming a professor himself. Eventually, however he found himself engrossed in Lundis work, and discovered that Lundi knew of a lost Sith temple on Ploo, which hid a powerful Sith Amulet. Omal knew that eventually the cultists would learn of the temple and steal the artifact their own nefarious purposes, so he decides to enlist the help of the crew to find and explore the temple, and recover the artifact so that it may be hidden away from the Believers forever.
After some heavy negotiation, the crew agreed to help Omal recover the artifact. The site of the temple is inaccessible to large vehicles so the crew decides to purchase speeders to quickly travel through the jungle. They also purchase survival gear and supplies for the journey, still unaware of what dangers may await them in the deep jungles of Ploo II.
